EV charging cost calculator

See what a charge really costs in Pakistan — at home, at a public AC or DC charger, or on solar. Pick your EV or enter your battery size, set your charge level and price per unit.

How we calculate charging cost

Energy added

Battery capacity × the % you add. We use usable capacity when you pick a model.

Energy from the grid

Energy added ÷ charging efficiency. This is what your meter or the charger bills you for.

Cost per 100 km

Based on a real-world consumption estimate for the selected model — not the brochure figure.

Charging time

Limited by whichever is lower: the charger's power or what your car accepts. Charging slows above ~80%.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge an EV at home in Pakistan?

Multiply the energy you put in (kWh) by your electricity price per unit, then add a little for charging losses. A typical 50 kWh battery charged from 20% to 80% draws around 33 kWh from the wall, so at PKR 60 per unit it costs roughly PKR 2,000. Your actual price depends on your tariff slab and time of use.

Is public DC fast charging more expensive than home charging?

Usually yes. Public DC chargers in Pakistan typically charge more per kWh than a residential connection because of equipment, grid demand charges and operator margins. Fast charging is best for road trips; daily charging at home or on solar is cheaper.

Why does the calculator draw more energy than it adds to the battery?

Some energy is lost as heat in the charger, cables and battery. On AC home charging, 85–95% efficiency is common, so you pay for slightly more units than end up in the battery.

Why charge only to 80%?

Most EVs charge fastest between about 10% and 80%. Above that, charging slows down to protect the battery, and many manufacturers recommend 80% for daily use.
